For the entirety of the Big Bang Theory, Penny and Leonard are the ones who have an on and off romantic relationship. Sheldon and Penny over time develop a pretty strong friendship, but the idea of them having a romance is laughable.
So when a scene emerged in the ninth season of them sharing a heated kiss, courtesy of Sheldon telling Leonard that he’s doing it to “save his marriage,” we all felt a bit weird. Then, of course, Leonard woke up and realized it was just a sick dream.
