Lorde’s song Royals might seem like it is written about being a member of a royal family, but it isn’t. Lorde took inspiration from a picture of a baseball star playing for the Kansas City Royals.
The player, George Brett had his picture taken as he was surrounded by a horde of fans all desperately trying to get him to sign their baseballs. While we might have assumed Lorde was singing about the adoration members of the royal family receive, it was really about a sports star.
