In fact, he was thought to have strongly encouraged the actor not to take the role. Seemingly, he didn’t think the role was right for Willis, but Willis received wide praise for his role as the charismatic John McClane. If Willis had taken the advice of Caron, he might never have made the breakthrough that launched his career.
