Janis Joplin will always be celebrated for her unique and beautiful voice. The artist had become known for using illegal substances and living a particular lifestyle. No one, however, expected her to die so young.
She joined the 27 Club in 1970, just over two weeks after another iconic musician – Jimi Hendrix – passed away from similar causes: substance intoxication. Joplin was said to be extra sad that night because her friends failed to come visit her as promised. She was found at home after not appearing to a recording session.
