There are many wedding traditions, and now, many couples can’t wait to put them all to good use. Bridesmaids have grown to become a huge part of the wedding day as the bride gets to choose her nearest and dearest to be involved with the ceremony. However, they once had a much more significant role. Bridesmaids actually wore similar dresses to the bride as a way to confuse any evil spirits that might appear at the ceremony.
The cake is also something that has changed over the years. The newlyweds would once enjoy bread instead as the groom crumbled a slice over the bride’s head for good luck. To top it off, the guests would then scramble on the floor to collect some luck of their own. The tradition later transformed to the bride pushing a slice of cake through her wedding ring for her guests to eat before it became a centerpiece of the reception.
