[post_page_title]One tradition in question[/post_page_title]
It seemed as though there was one tradition that was about to be put to the test at Brittany’s wedding. Many brides have walked with their father down the aisle. It turns out this tradition dates all the way back to arranged marriages. This is because a wedding was deemed to be a passing of ownership from one man to another. Many young women were offered up as ways to settle any disagreements between local tribes or to cover any debts.
As if that wasn’t enough, many marriages were used to help people climb up the social ladder as two families became one. Now, many brides still opt to walk with their fathers, but for various reasons. Some use it as a way to say “goodbye” to their family while others believe it’s a chance to honor the father of the bride.
