The communism in Romania had, thankfully, all come to an end, so the couple returned to Nadia’s home country to tie the knot in the spring of 1996. The new government had no issues with Nadia leaving the country and even gave the pair the Parliament House as the location for the wedding reception. The wedding was huge news for the people of Romania, with it being likened to the gymnastics version of a royal wedding. The pair have welcomed a son, named Dylan, to their family, and have enjoyed 21 years of marriage so far.
