[post_page_title]The Irish job – $50 million[/post_page_title]
Forget about the “luck of the Irish” – this job took straight guts. In December, 2004, two officials of Northern Ireland’s Northern Bank were visited by men claiming to be policemen.
They weren’t and held the officials’ families hostage until they got the access they needed. They then turned to the bank’s Belfast headquarters, and made away with more than $50 million in cash. the bank had so much money to begin with because it was to be distributed to ATMs for the Christmas shopping season. The case remains unsolved.
