A truck loaded with uncut diamonds was about to unload its precious cargo onto a plane, which was to take them to Belgium’s diamond capital – Antwerp.
The truck was intercepted by men wearing uniforms of the KLM Royal Dutch Airline. Driving a KLM truck inside the airport, they just stopped near the diamond truck, took it over and made off with $80 million in product. That simple? That simple. The thieves were later picked up in the Netherlands and Spain, but some diamonds, worth $45 million, have never been found.
