A lot of things can happen when a country is torn apart by war, and there are few better examples than Iraq, a country torn by a years’ long conflict. But where some see catastrophe, others see opportunity.
When employees arrived in Baghdad’s Dar Es Salaam Bank one morning in July, 2007, they found it had been completely ransacked. It turns out three security guards went rogue, and made off with $282 million from the bank’s vaults. The incident was hushed up, so not much more is known.
