David Kidney is an introverted, dorky law student at Harvard Law School, who goes against the status quo of his fellow classmates, and doesn’t treat newcomer Elle Woods with disrespect.
He also helps her throughout the film, and assists Elle in being Brooke’s attorney when she takes over the sleazy Professor Callahan. Davis is also presented as having an extraordinarily high intelligence – he has a masters in Russian Literature, as well as a Ph.D in Biochemistry.
