Princess Diana broke quite a few rules during her time as a royal, and usually, she did this on purpose. However, there was one occasion where she went against tradition entirely by accident. It happened during her first Christmas as Charles’ wife when she gave Princess Anne a present.
Diana had bought her new sister-in-law a lovely cashmere sweater, but she was surprised when it wasn’t well-received. Apparently, no-one had told Diana that the family always got each other gag gifts for Christmas. Luckily, she didn’t repeat that mistake again.
