Usually, when people get divorced from someone in the monarchy, they disappear from the public eye. That didn’t happen with Diana, though. She was far too famous to just fall back into the shadows. Instead, she remained firmly in the spotlight, a position that could have been dangerous for the Royal Family.
The Princess could have easily used her fame to turn people against the monarchy, especially after everything Charles put her through. However, she never really had the chance to do that before passing away unexpectedly in 1997.
