Leaving the Royal Family can’t have been easy for Diana, given she’d grown so accustomed to life in the monarchy. However, it’s not like there’d never been a time before then when she hadn’t been a royal.
The first twenty years of the Princess’ life was spent away from the family, during which time she apparently had several jobs. This included working as a teacher and a nanny. These might not have lasted long, but they did make Diana the first person to have paid employment before joining the monarchy.
