As much as Diana probably would have loved to stay at home with the kids forever, that simply wasn’t possible. Eventually, they were old enough to start going to school, and the Princess was desperate for them to have a good education.
So much so, that she actually sent them to public school rather than following the royal tradition of having kids be taught at home. It seems she wanted her boys to bond with children their age, rather than forcing them to stay at home alone.
