You wouldn’t think that something as simple as Diana flying with her children would be considered controversial in the Royal Family. However, when the mother did it back in the day, it was considered another broken rule.
However, the problem was actually less to do with Diana and more her husband because of his position in the line of succession. With him being first and William second, having them fly together was considered dangerous. After all, if anything happened to the plane, that would be two heirs lost at once.
