Grant seemed to be trying to prove to Loren that he did have genuine feelings for her. The actor even flew all the way to Italy to watch Loren on the set of an Italian movie.
When Loren would visit the United States, Grant made sure to drop by and see how she was getting on. There really did appear to be a special connection between the two film stars, but Loren did have her relationship with Ponti to think about.
