Although her decision to stay with Ponti seemingly hurt Grant, it seems she always had a little piece of his heart. He had promised to stay in touch with her, but once she chose Ponti over him, that was harder for Grant to do.
Later in life, Grant chose to give Loren a call out of the blue, and the actress was unsure why he was calling. Grant reportedly only wanted to say “Ciao” to her, and not long after that call, the legendary actor passed away.
