When Loren was just 17, she entered the Miss Eleganza beauty contest in Rome. She was destined to appear on the stage, and from the moment she stepped foot on it, Loren had an admirer. One of the competition judges was Carlo Ponti, a well-known Italian film producer, and he was captivated by Loren.
He claimed that from the moment he locked eyes on her, he “knew she was someone exceptional.” Ponti felt as though there was something illuminating about Loren that would draw people toward her.
