Cockayne syndrome is a genetic disorder, meaning Eva’s condition came from her parents. Unfortunately for Alicia and Dan, both of them are carriers, even though they’re unaffected by the disorder themselves. That means if the two of them have another child, there’s every chance that Eva’s brother or sister would also have Cockayne syndrome. The possibility stands at 25% which is pretty high for something that’s supposed to be incredibly rare. It would be a big risk for the Jimmiesons to have another child, but was it one worth taking?
