Little Eva was officially diagnosed shortly before her first birthday. The doctors informed the concerned parents that she had Cockayne syndrome, a condition that causes premature aging along with a wealth of other problems. During their research, Alicia and Dan had become very familiar with the disorder, believing it to be what their daughter was suffering with. It was the only thing they’d come across that matched all of Eva’s symptoms, but they’d hoped the problem wouldn’t be as severe as Cockayne syndrome. They’d wanted a miracle, but hadn’t gotten one.
