Among the problems that Eva was dealing with were growth restriction, vision loss, and photosensitivity. Unfortunately, the girl’s strain of Cockayne syndrome was the strongest, meaning that the time she had left with her family wasn’t going to be easy. Eva would have very little neurological development in her lifetime, and she’d always require help for simple actions like walking or eating. Alicia and Dan knew that looking after their daughter would be difficult, but they were willing to do whatever it took to make Eva’s life a happy one.
