Just when he was at a loss for what to do, Rainier III received some advice from Aristotle Onassis, the future husband of Jackie Kennedy. The man advised the Prince to find a bride with a Hollywood background.
He apparently believed that tying the knot with someone so famous would improve Monaco’s image. More people would visit the country, thereby helping it replenish some of its lost fortune. Rainier III reportedly first set his sights on Marilyn Monroe before turning to Grace after the other star allegedly rejected him.
