After performing on SNL in 1976, instrumentalist and musical icon Frank Zappa was invited two years later back to the set, but this time to host. Unfortunately, the producers ended up regretting their decision soon after. Zappa apparently bumped heads with most of the cast and crew.
His attitude towards the others was likely due to the fact that he was famously against the use of illegal substances as opposed to most of the people who worked on the show at the time. In the end, Zappa was banned, never to return again.
