Rockers Rage Against the Machine are known for being open about their strong liberal political beliefs. So people definitely found it odd that they were the musical act on SNL while Republican presidential nominee and billionaire Steve Forbes was hosting in 1996.
Seconds before performing their popular song Bulls on Parade, the band hung US flags facing downwards on their amps – only to get them quickly taken down by stagehands via the order of Lorne Michaels. After this act of protest, the band got kicked off the stage, and the show, for good.
