[post_page_title]David Bowie[/post_page_title]
We know what you’re thinking – who would ever dare ban David Bowie, a deity among men? Well, at least one person wasn’t feeling the Ziggy Stardust singer – SNL bigwig Lorne Michaels. When Bowie appeared on the iconic sketch show as a musical guest in 1997, Michaels asked him to play Telling Lies, at the time his most recent single.
Instead, Bowie played 1981’s Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) as a goof, after Michaels previously confided in Bowie that it “terrified” him. After finishing the set, Bowie was escorted off the premises, and was banned for three years.
