Brash, tough-talking, and not afraid to speak her mind – these are all qualities that catapulted Sandra Bernhard to the top of the comedy world in the ’80s and ’90s. David Letterman sure seemed to be a fan, and she was a frequent guest on his talk show back when he followed Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show.
When Letterman took his talents to CBS, Bernhard was conspicuous by her absence. What happened? Well, Bernhard herself says Letterman believed she trashed him to their circle of mutual showbiz friends. Despite denying it to him, she never appeared on his CBS show.
