The problems all started while Joe and Shadow were at the West Pasco Judicial Center for a criminal court pre-trial. While he was tending to his daughter, Joe tossed his keys into the front seat without even thinking. It was only after he’d finished securing the baby into the back seat and closed the door behind him that he realized he’d made a mistake. Unfortunately, by that point, it was too late.
When he’d shut the door, the car had locked itself, leaving the baby and keys trapped inside. The panic mounted almost immediately as the reality of what he’d done registered in his mind. There was no way for him and Shadow to get back into the car, and no way for their daughter to get out of it. They couldn’t afford to get a locksmith to break into the vehicle, so what were they supposed to do?
