They then tried to free the kittens, only to find it much more difficult because of their size. The team, however, were not prepared to fail the kittens and their mother, and eventually added padding to the pole.
They carefully pushed the pole back through the pipe and out came the kittens. Though an incredibly difficult task, the team refused to give up, and the cat and her four newborn kittens recovered well and proved themselves to be surprisingly friendly, despite their trauma.
