[post_page_title]Is it pointless?[/post_page_title]
In recent years, however, it has been proven that culling is a largely ineffective method of reducing populations. Foxes are territorial animals and protect their own areas.
This means that they do not allow any other foxes into the same location in which they occupy, so generally, with the exception of mating season, there will be only one fox in each area. Therefore, when foxes are culled, the territory becomes unclaimed, meaning new foxes take their place. Culling doesn’t rid of foxes, just introduces different ones from elsewhere.
