During the interview, the family revealed that the idea of being Matthew and Elliot’s surrogate for their baby came up during a family get-together one night. The couple had been looking into adoption, but were afraid that the process would not be an option for them in the state of Nebraska, where same-gender couples have greater difficulties with the process.
“Adoption and foster care were a little bit of a path we weren’t quite ready to navigate, so we decided we wanted to go for IVF,” Matthew revealed.
