Fortunately, there was a spark of hope waiting in the wings. Having sworn off serious relationships to focus on her career, the singer eventually struck lucky in the mid-‘80s when she released her fifth studio album, “Private Dancer.” The LP was a top three hit in the U.S., becoming multi-platinum certified in various regions and spawning the number one single, “What’s Love Got to Do with It.” The album has now sold over 20 million copies worldwide and is still her best-selling release in the U.S.
