It wasn’t long before Richard decided to reform the Carpenters. The band jetted off around the world to play for thousands of screaming fans who had all been waiting for their return to the stage.
It wasn’t just stadiums the siblings were selling out, as they also made appearances on a number of TV programs, such as a Telethon show in Japan during 1981. However, a live rendition of Touch Me When We’re Dancing on the show went wrong when the backing vocals abruptly cut, and it was made clear the siblings were lip-synching the song.
