Joel Osborn had only decided to sign one of the Carpenters to his label but didn’t want to let Richard slip through his fingers. He used a lot of Richard’s work for his new singles, including Looking for Love and I’ll Be Yours, but nothing was able to win over the public.
The label quickly flopped, but Joel didn’t want to let the siblings down. He allowed the pair to continue using his studio so they could carry on recording their music; Joel wanted to see the two finally catch a well-deserved break.
