They say every cloud has its silver lining, and as such, later that same year, Karen and Richard as a duo were given the opportunity to appear on Your All American College Show, a much-loved show at the time.
This pair was a huge success on the small screen, making the show’s stage their own. And yet, despite the audience’s adoration, the siblings still weren’t getting picked up by any record labels. All this changed in 1969, though, when A&M Records signed the brother and sister act under their new band name, the Carpenters.
