Both the single and the album flew to the top of the charts. The record company was taken aback by how hard the two were working, as well as the brand new sound they were able to create. A&M Records had no doubts with their new band so let them continue to release more and more music.
Over the course of their career, the Carpenters went on to release 30 singles, ten albums, and recorded more than one hundred songs together, with a considerable number of those only being released recently. To date, they have sold more than 100 million records.
