Jess Merriweather is played by the lovely Jurnee Smollett-Bell. Jess joined the series in season four as a student of East Dillon High and daughter of a former football hero of the East Dillon Lions. She works for her family’s restaurant, and has a brief relationship with Landry followed by a more serious relationship with Vince. In the fifth season, she decides to become a coach and starts shadowing Coach Taylor. She eventually moves to Dallas after her father’s fast-food franchise takes off, but still continues pursuing her dream of becoming a coach.
