[post_page_title]A flawed system[/post_page_title]
Have you ever heard of the “tipped minimum wage”? Those in the service industry will know all about this because this often means that they get less in their pocket every month.
Because the system believes that those who work in the restaurant and bar business will be given tips from their customers, they are only given a fraction of the normal minimum wage. They believe these tips will bump up their wage to make it level out. But when these people don’t get tips, they are left with little money to their name.

There are now many people in the United States who are trying to get rid of tipping altogether. They want servers to be paid a real wage, without having to rely on tips.
This would offer more financial security to those who are working within the service industry – but we hope it won’t stop people like Steffan from paying it forward. After he watched David overwork himself to properly do his job, he knew that he needed to add a tip to his bill. It was this bill that now allows David to provide for his family.
