As Amanda probed her student about the pencils and how he had come to have them, she soon discovered that his mom was behind it all. She had taken the time to write certain phrases on her son’s pencils to remind him of certain things during his day.
But what had she written? Phrases to help him remember his spellings? A quote from his favorite storybook? Numbers to aid his math classes? The reality of the pencils was much more heartwarming than that, and Amanda was overcome with emotion.
