Although this criticism has made its way back to Thomas Owens, he still stands by his actions. He believes that he made the right decision on that day and that saving the bear was the right thing to do.
He would do so again in a heartbeat because he would hate to see that a weak and defenseless bear had lost its life along his roads. His police department also hails his decision, and state that they hope all of their state troopers would do the same thing in that situation.
