Emily tried to put the incident out of her mind, but the image of Ashley pulling a pillow from her shirt was too vivid. While many might have distrusted what they had seen, Emily knew what she had witnessed, but she struggled to wrap her brain around the whole thing.
Emily began to think back to the conversations she had been having with Ashley about her pregnancy and how convincing the stories her nanny told her had seemed. She had assumed they were true, but now she wasn’t sure.
