Thankfully, there was something on the horizon that would pull Will away from the dark and lead him further away from bankruptcy. In 1990, he was asked to take on the leading role in a brand new sitcom by the name of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. To start with, Smith didn’t know what to say. He had never acted before and had absolutely no experience in the world of Hollywood.
He assumed that he would be out of his depth, but the hefty salary was something he just couldn’t say no to. Will Smith accepted the offer, and the first season of the show gave the youngster the chance to become an international sensation. Since then, Smith has continued his reign in the acting world, and was once even called “the most powerful actor in Hollywood.”
