It became clear that Nicholas was uncomfortable inside her warm car. She asked the officer to feel the interior as the sun shining down on it had seemingly heated it to an almost unbearable temperature. The police officer was concerned that if Nicholas had stayed in the store for much longer, her dog could have passed away, such was the risk to its life. Nicholas only lasted a few minutes inside her vehicle before getting out; this was way less time than she had forced her dog to stay inside for.
