In the UK, discrimination when it comes to housing is illegal thanks to the Equality Act 2010. That means that landlords cannot turn down any people based on their gender, age, marital status, disability, beliefs, race, or what gender they are attracted to.
If what Lorna was saying about the landlord’s claims was true, then it seems they were breaking the law. It’s understandable why Lorna was so outraged by the landlord’s claims as she is a fully grown adult more than capable of looking after herself.
