Woman turns home into incredibly pink masterpiece but people call it an eyesore

Whether we realize it or not, art plays a huge role in our lives. Art isn’t just about paintings hanging in a musty museum – it may be found virtually everywhere. From street graffiti to the way we choose to design our home, art is all around us. And some people would go to unimaginable lengths to make their artistic vision come to life.

Most famously, Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí had a vision – create a cathedral like no other. “God’s architect” succeeded, but almost 140 years later Barcelona’s La Sagrada Família is still unfinished.

Others have slightly more attainable, though still ambitious, goals. They’re all about taking a single property and completely transforming it, recreating it in their image and according to their singular vision. These people have a superpower – looking at the present and imagining the future, and then willing that future into existence. Take this woman, for example, who (re)created a luxurious pink palace in Essex.

In 2009, Amy Griffith, a 43-year-old artist and creative director, left her old life in California and moved to Essex, a county in southeastern England. Why did she move across the Atlantic? Simple – she had a vision.

From drab to fab

Namely, take one drab and dull six-bedroom property in the village of Tiptree and completely transform it, both internally and externally. Today, exactly a decade later, she’s succeeded beyond her wildest dreams. The manor, Eaton House Studio, is now available for rent. Before you book, though, allow us to give you a tour.
