If generally accepted statistics about diets are to be believed, Molly was about to have a rough go of it. Multiple studies have shown that over the long term, diets simply don’t work – 95 percent of people regain all or at least some of the weight they lost within a year to five years. Moreover, diets are by their very nature temporary, and therefore can’t work long-run. And if you push too far, your body pushes back, slowing down your metabolism and halting weight loss.
