The women of HGTV, slaying on the red carpet

In a world where most of us are not experts in home improvement, design, restoration, gardening, or crafts, it is comforting to know that there are some out there who can advise us – for free! When the Home & Garden Television network was first launched on December 1, 1994, homeowners and future homeowners from all over the world rejoiced! It was the first channel like it, where home design and garden experts would offer how-to shows with useful tips for people who wish to remodel or just improve their home or garden.

It’s been 24 years since the HGTV craze first began, and it is still just as successful as ever. HGTV is watched in over 95 million homes in America, and an impressive 82% of households with television in the US receive HGTV. In 2016, it overtook CNN as the third most-watched cable channel in the country, right behind Fox News and ESPN. So what is so special about HGTV? Well, it could have something to do with the incredibly talented group of hosts and co-hosts the network is known for, and this time around, we’re shining a spotlight on the network’s women.

The amazing women who host shows on HGTV grace us with their home improvement knowledge each episode they’re in, and we are totally grateful for it! Before HGTV, if we wanted to remodel, redesign, or just fix up a room in our house (or our entire house) we would have to pay an expert a good amount of money for their services. This is why HGTV is so unique – it was one of the first ever TV channels to offer free advice from the biggest and most experienced professionals in the industry.

From restoring old buildings, to remodeling kitchens, to making magic with only a can of paint, each host of HGTV brings something unique to the table. As we mentioned earlier, although they are each gifted and amazing in their own right, on this list we want to focus on the awesome ladies of HGTV. Not only are they charming and approachable, they manage break the old-fashioned stereotype that only “handymen” can fix up homes. These strong, smart, and immensely successful women are some of the best in the business and are out to prove otherwise.

Of course, these HGTV stunners aren’t always wearing a tool belt, and they often appear in some of the most exclusive red carpet events in the home design industry. Continue reading to see for yourself what these gorgeous home improvement stars look like on the red carpet, after their work hours.
