After the show won Moore her first Emmy Award, the start started moving on to bigger and bigger projects. The beginning of 1970 saw Mary Tyler Moore appear in the musical special ‘Dick Van Dyke and the Other Woman’ in a pivotal one-hour special. Following its success, Moore and her then-husband Grant Tinker managed to successfully pitch a show idea to CBS, ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show,’ which would follow the single woman’s working and home life.
