This movie follows the life of Puyi, a child destined to become emperor. This movie depicts his rise, fall, and inevitable end, along with the end of the Chinese Empire. At the same time, the country has become known as the People’s Republic of China and ruled by the people and their elected leader. This is a heartwarming movie, and at the same time curiously humbling. It reminds us of the time when emperors used to rule entire empires, and that even they would reach their end.
