The best historical movies that are also (almost) completely accurate

[post_page_title]Frida (2002)[/post_page_title]

Frida, released in 2002 after languishing in development limbo for years, was a passion project for its star, Mexican actress Salma Hayek. She’d been interested in Mexcian portraitist Frida Kahlo since she was 12, and fought to have the movie made. Are we ever glad she did! Frida never shies away from presenting its heroes as they were – broken, and all too human. Frida’s companion Diego Rivera is every bit the serial adulterer he was in reality, for example, and even Frida’s affair with Communist revolutionary Leon Trotsky is done justice, even if the details are somewhat fudged.
